Splurge and Steal Beauty

Taking a page from one of those fashion/beauty rags to bring you my splurge and steal beauty products of the day. These products don’t have exactly the same use, so technically they are not splurge and steal, but they are close enough, and I will make the case for having both of them in your skin care routine.

The splurge? Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Granted, at $46 for an ounce, it is a splurge, but since just a little bit covers your whole face, it lasts FOREVER, and is absolutely wonderful! I still have somewhat oily skin in my T-zone and am still prone to breakouts, so shied away from “oils”, but this stuff feels great going on, is not greasy at all, and smells wonderful. (In fact I think the lavender helps me fall asleep faster!) It’s full of amazing botanicals and all kinds of good stuff, so even though it is a splurge, in my opinion is is quite a value, and I highly recommend it.

The steal? A drugstore find that is the best body moisturizer I’ve ever used, BAR NONE!  My skin gets so dry in the winter, and I’ve run the gamut of body lotions and creams (including some very expensive products), with varying degrees of satisfaction until I found out about Neutrogena Body Oil!

At $9.99 for 8.5 ounces it is a steal! I apply it after a shower and it keeps my skin silky all day. My test of a body oil/lotion/cream? No dry skin itching, and this stuff passes with flying colors! It has a light sesame scent that I personally like, although it is available unscented, and is never greasy, sinks into skin beautifully, and is all around magical.

There you have my splurge and steal today. I highly recommend both these products. If you try one or both, or are using them now, please add your comments here. I’d love to read them.

Thanks for reading, and happy spring!

Elizabeth
